Smart Distributed Power Management for a Sustainable and Resilient Campus project explores how UBC buildings can become more adaptable, efficient, and future-ready in support of campus sustainability goals. Led by Mohammad Shahrad and Maximilian Kniewasser, the project brings together campus operations and student researchers to explore new approaches to managing power use at the building level. By studying how everyday electrical loads can respond to changing demand, the project aims to improve power management, support a more resilient campus energy system, and help reduce UBC’s carbon footprint over time. More details will be shared as the project develops — please check back in the fall for updates.
