UBCO launched the 2024 Campus as a Living Lab Competition

UBC Okanagan is excited to announce the return of the UBCO Campus as a Living Lab (CLL) Competition for 24-25.

The UBC BRDF facility, capable of combusting and gasifying approximately 4 tonnes of biomass per hour, generates 20 MWh of heat for campus use. This innovative process could potentially reduce UBC’s carbon footprint by up to 40,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent annually if no carbon equivalent emissions were produced

Campus as a Living Lab ‘Grand Challenge’: three recipients share $600k in funding

The Campus as a Living Lab 'Grand Challenge' called for visionary approaches to how British Columbia and Canada can effectively respond and adapt to the climate emergency.

This year's competition, attracted faculty and staff from more than 22 academic departments and operational units across UBC Vancouver and Okanagan, resulting in three projects moving forward with a total of $600k in funding.
