At UBC, there are multiple research centres and operational units involved in the diverse range of Campus as a Living Lab (CLL) projects. In addition, UBC partners with a wide range of external organizations from the public sector and private industry. Our listing below provides a brief snapshot of each partner, and links for further information.

The Urban Innovation Research team in UBC’s Sustainability Hub is in the early stages of revitalizing and restructuring Campus as a Living Lab as a mechanism to more effectively to address complex sustainability challenges and increase the real-world impacts. As part of this process we are continually identifying groups already working in a living lab approach, and expanding the range of collaborators for future projects.

UBC Wellbeing

is a collaborative effort to make the University a better place to live, work and learn through a systems-wide approach by focusing on priority areas like mental health and resilience, food and nutrition, social connection amongst others.

 

Athletics and Recreation

engages the university community in sport and recreation experiences, enabling UBC athletes to excel at the highest levels, and inspiring school spirit and personal well-being through physical activity and also drive research in such areas.

 

Building Operations, UBC Facilities

is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all campus buildings, landscaped grounds, hardscape surfaces, waste management, vehicle procurement and servicing, and technical services for special projects
