Campus as a Living Lab has been an approach to innovation on UBC’s Vancouver campus since the early 2000's. During that time there have been a number of significant capital projects that have piloted innovations and supported robust research programs. These capital projects leverage UBC’s operational capabilities and deep research expertise to advance study and explore complex questions.

Through these projects we are developing and testing solutions to urgent sustainability challenges, and developing new models and approaches to collaboration and knowledge exchange. Our goal is to increase the real-world impact of diverse living lab projects, helping to accelerate changes in sustainability policies and practices locally, regionally and globally.
