The Campus as a Living Lab Grand Challenge 2023 Competition opens on September 1, 2023.
The CLL Grand Challenge 2023 will provide seed funding of up to $250,000 each for two living lab projects based at UBC Vancouver and up to $100,000 for one living lab project based at UBC Okanagan.
Campus Living Lab projects leverage UBC’s academic and operational capabilities to respond to global sustainability challenges in our local context, in alignment with UBC's Strategic Plan: Creating vibrant, sustainable environments that enhance wellbeing and excellence for people...at UBC and beyond. Projects are co-developed by interdisciplinary academic-operational teams, and must:
- Demonstrate or pilot innovation
- Advance research and contribute new insight into a body of knowledge
- Improve or benefit institutional functionality of the university
- Have the potential to expand impacts beyond UBC
The CLL Grand Challenge 2023 invites applicants to envision how BC and Canada can respond and adapt to climate emergency and the role that UBC can play in realizing a sustainable future in our communities, cities and regions. Please review the CLL Grand Challenge Guidelines for project requirements and other competition information.
All projects applying to the CLL Grand Challenge 2023 Competition must submit a Notice of Intent (NOI). The NOI is non-competitive but is required to submit a full Application.
Once you have completed the NOI Form, please upload the PDF using the online form below. Only one Project Lead should upload the application on behalf of the team.
Notice of Intent forms may be submitted any time before September 28, 2023 @ 11:59 pm (PDT). Late submissions will not be considered.
All projects which successfully submitted their Notice of Intent (NOI) for the CLL Grand Challenge 2023 Competition are required to submit their full Applications to CLL team by November 27, 2023.
You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat Pro to access and complete the full application form. Please download and save the application form on your computer and open it in Adobe Reader or Pro. Do not complete via your web browser, as some of the form fields may not work correctly.
Once you have completed the Application Form, please upload the PDF using the online form below. Only one Project Lead should upload the application on behalf of the team.
